Pitchline Engineering

CNC Milling in South Africa

Five CNC milling machines produce flat faces, pockets, slots and multi-sided components that turning cannot, from prototypes to repeat batches.
CNC Milling at Pitchline Engineering

CNC milling moves a rotating cutter across a fixed workpiece to produce housings, plates, manifolds and complex shapes. Pitchline's milling department also makes the mould and die tooling for its own rubber moulding presses — so tooling and production happen under one roof.

Four of the machines have dedicated CNC rotary tables, which lets a part be indexed and machined on several faces without re-clamping and losing accuracy. Three are palletized, so the next part is loaded while the current one is cut.

Typical work

  • Housings, covers and gearbox casings
  • Brackets, mounting plates and base frames
  • Manifolds and valve blocks
  • Jigs, fixtures and tooling plates
  • Mould and die components
  • Machined castings and fabricated assemblies

CNC Milling questions

How big a part can Pitchline CNC mill?

Workpieces up to 1000mm x 500mm x 400mm across five CNC milling machines.

Can more than one face be machined in a single setup?

Yes. Four machines have CNC rotary tables, so a part can be indexed and machined on multiple faces without re-clamping.

Is Pitchline set up for production milling quantities?

Three of the five machines are palletized, which keeps repeat batches efficient and sensibly priced.

Can a part be milled and turned in the same factory?

Yes. CNC turning, grinding, gear cutting, rubber moulding and conventional work all happen at the same Pinetown factory.

What should I send for a CNC milling quote?

A drawing or sample, the quantity required, the material, and any critical tolerances or application details.
